When was the last time you loved a photograph of yourself?
I know what it feels like, to struggle to see your own beauty! That's why I thrive on capturing images of you, that you will adore and want to keep looking at.
I'm Petrina and I am a Portrait Photographer, married to my childhood sweetheart, Mother to our three increasingly independent little people and lover of ALL things beautiful.
I’m Petrina Verma, photographer, storyteller, and host of the Pretty Deep podcast.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been creating... Writing, designing, styling, capturing, weaving stories through image, word, and experience. My work has always centred around women, helping them feel seen, celebrated, and beautifully confident.
Whether through editorial-style portraits, personal branding sessions, or styling guidance, my work has always been about more than just what’s on the surface. It’s about connection, presence, and helping a woman recognise herself again in the best possible way.
But creativity has never been just about the work for me. It’s been a way of paying attention. A way of helping women reconnect with who they truly are beyond the roles they’ve played or the image they’ve curated.
As I approach 50, I feel an even deeper pull to use my voice not just my eyes.
To speak, to reflect, and to open space for the kinds of conversations we don’t always have but deeply need.
That’s why I started Pretty Deep, a podcast and journal for thoughtful women navigating identity, confidence, creativity, faith, and personal reinvention. It’s a space for the woman who has lived, led, raised, served, stretched and is now asking: “What’s next for me?”
Whether I’m behind a camera or behind a mic, my intention is the same: To create space. To tell the truth. To honour the beauty in becoming.
If that resonates with you, welcome. You’re right on time.
and I'm so happy that you're here.
and I'm so happy that you're here.
You are not alone...
A few years ago, I finally decided it was time to have my very own portrait photoshoot. I picked an award-winning photographer whose work I LOVED…. I saved, planned, shopped, and even travelled to the US to have my photos taken.
The day of my shoot arrived and I was filled with nerves… all of my nagging insecurities were running through my mind…. “I’m not thin enough” “My skin isn’t looking good” “My eyes are puffy… I look so tired!” “I’m too awkward”
I got so worked up that I broke out in hives...YES, HIVES... the morning of my shoot! Thank God for great makeup artists who know how to make even a face full of red spots look flawless.
How ironic, right? Put me on the other side of the camera, and all of a sudden I was terrified that even an award-winning photographer wouldn’t be able to make me look good in photos.
So trust me, I’ve been there too. I totally understand what you mean when you say “But Petrina, I’m just NOT photogenic”.
We often think that being photogenic is some sort of SUPERPOWER that only SOME women have… some secret ingredient or extra dose of gorgeousness that makes them look good in photos. But let me tell you now, that’s pure BUNK. *And it’s what I had to remind myself when having my own photos taken.
The dictionary defines photogenic as ‘having features that look good in a photograph’.
The TRUTH is that everyone... including YOU... have SPECIAL, UNIQUE and STUNNING features.
Whether it’s great eyes, a beautiful mouth, or chiselled collarbones; the task of a skilled photographer is to highlight the features that make you uniquely and beautifully YOU.
As a part of the portrait experience, it is my main focus to direct all of the elements of a photograph to capture you at your BEST.
Quickly identifying your unique beauty, I tailor every photograph using expert lighting and directed posing to reveal the photogenic woman that has ALWAYS been there.
Now you've heard my *almost disastrous* story... I feel like we already know each other a little. Let's meet in person soon, so we can start planning your dream photoshoot.
